You Can't Take It With You

Costume & Hair/Makeup Designer · Brooklyn Center for Theatre Research · 2025

Overview

George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart's Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy follows the joyfully eccentric Sycamore family, whose free-spirited household collides with high society when daughter Alice falls for the son of her wealthy boss.

This New York revival ran May 22 through June 1, 2025 at the Brooklyn Center for Theatre Research in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. It was directed by Katie Devin Orenstein and produced by Emma Hart, granddaughter of playwright Moss Hart, with Cassidy Gyetvan and Andy Petrilak.

Contribution

Matthew Solomon designed the costumes, hair and makeup for the New York production, dressing a large ensemble that ranges from the Sycamores' gloriously mismatched household to the buttoned-up Kirbys.

From ballet tutus to tailored suits and pearls, the looks let each character's personality read instantly from the stage.
