Costume Designer · New Jersey Institute of Technology · 2025

Overview

Based on the beloved French film, Amélie follows an imaginative young woman who quietly transforms the lives of those around her through unexpected acts of kindness while struggling to take a chance on happiness herself.

NJIT presented the musical in Spring 2025 at the Jim Wise Theatre, directed and choreographed by Courtney Laine Self.

Contribution

Matthew Solomon served as Costume Designer, creating the contemporary Parisian world of Amélie and its colorful collection of characters.

The design combined playful color, pattern and character-driven silhouettes with touches of heightened theatricality, supporting the musical’s whimsical movement between everyday life and Amélie’s vivid imagination.
