Cirque Dreams Clara’s Dream

Cirque Dreams Clara’s Dream reimagines the familiar world of Clara through the visual and performance language of Cirque Dreams. Circus artistry, specialty acts, movement, music, costumes, scenery, and theatrical technology combine to create a dreamlike holiday experience that moves between intimate storytelling and large-scale spectacle.

Sam Doty has created new lighting designs for multiple iterations of Clara’s Dream as part of his long-running creative relationship with Cirque Dreams. Rather than carrying a single design from production to production, each version has provided an opportunity to rethink the lighting around new staging, performers, acts, and production elements. His designs help establish the changing worlds of Clara’s journey while providing the precision required for live circus performance.
