Monster Jam transforms arenas and stadiums into massive live motorsports environments, combining racing, skills competitions, freestyle performances, and some of the most recognizable monster trucks in the world with the production scale of a major touring entertainment property.
As Lighting Designer, Sam Doty brought a theatrical approach to an environment very different from a conventional stage production. His work helped frame vehicle entrances, competition, freestyle runs, audience moments, and large-scale reveals while integrating lighting into an arena environment built around video, audio, effects, and live event presentation.
The project forms part of Sam’s extensive history with Feld Entertainment, where his work since 2006 has encompassed the planning, development, building, and lighting of productions across the company’s portfolio of live entertainment.
