Overview

Captured live at Playhouse 46 at St. Luke’s, Stranger Sings! The Parody Musical is an irreverent musical parody that transports audiences to the characters, creatures, and 1980s world of Hawkins, Indiana. The filmed production preserves the immersive Off-Broadway staging for streaming audiences.

Contribution

Matthew Solomon served as Costume and Hair Designer for the captured Off-Broadway production. His designs recreate recognizable 1980s character silhouettes while adapting them for theatrical performance, comedy, multiple-role casting, and rapid transformations.

Costumes, wigs, and creature elements help the small ensemble portray numerous characters while supporting the production’s heightened parody aesthetic. The visual world includes period-inspired everyday clothing, exaggerated character details, and the production’s theatrical interpretation of the Demogorgon.
