Overview

CoComelon Live! JJ’s Journey was the children’s brand’s first live touring production. The Broadway-style musical followed JJ and his family as he learned to write an original song, combining more than 20 familiar and original numbers with dance, audience participation, and theatrical effects.

Launched in 2022, the production expanded into a tour of more than 65 North American cities as part of a wider international rollout.

Contribution

Matthew Solomon served as Associate Costume Designer, collaborating with Costume Designer Cynthia Nordstrom to translate CoComelon’s animated characters into costumes for live performance. The development process preserved the characters’ recognizable shapes, colors, and personalities while addressing performer movement, visibility, durability, maintenance, and the repeated demands of a large-scale touring production.
