Cocomelon Live! Starring Miss Appleberry
Pilot Testing Costumes
Overview
A series of five live-action pilot videos developed in Los Angeles for Moonbug Entertainment’s CoComelon. The project explored how Ms. Appleberry and the colorful animated world of the globally recognized children’s property could translate into a live-action screen format.
The pilot videos received a limited online release as part of the property’s early creative development but were not retained as part of the subsequent CoComelon series.
Contribution
Matthew Solomon served as Costume Designer, developing the live-action wardrobe for Ms. Appleberry and establishing an approachable, colorful visual identity for the character.
The design translated Ms. Appleberry’s familiar animated appearance into clothing suitable for a real performer and physical production. Color, silhouette, proportion, and recognizable character details were balanced with the practical needs of movement, filming, and engaging a preschool audience.
