Overview

The Diary of a Wimpy Kid book tour brought Jeff Kinney’s internationally recognized children’s series to audiences through a live, family-oriented promotional experience. Combining author appearances, interactive entertainment, character comedy, and theatrical effects, the tour extended the distinctive illustrated world of Greg Heffley beyond the page.

Contribution

Matthew Solomon designed a specialty costume incorporating a concealed theatrical trick for the touring production. The costume and integrated prop effect were developed together to preserve the character’s recognizable visual identity while supporting the timing, movement, durability, and repeatability required for a live touring performance.
