Overview

The Perfect Game: A Slam Dunk New Musical is an original musical comedy connecting the story of basketball inventor James Naismith with two present-day coaches struggling with challenges both on and off the court.

Directed by Danny Salles and choreographed by Ashley Marinelli, the musical made its Off-Broadway premiere at Theatre Row in January 2024.

Contribution

Matthew Solomon served as Costume Designer, creating two distinct worlds for the production: the late-19th-century story of Naismith and the contemporary world of competitive basketball. The wardrobe moved between period dress, modern athletic wear and performance costumes while supporting a highly physical ensemble.
